Outreach to Eden Hospital
Caring Hands is a new outreach ministry to Eden Hospital that provides Birth Center Bags, Hygiene Kits, and clothing for Discharged Patients.
Birth Center Bags are used for babies that cannot be released from the hospital due to a variety of circumstances. They contain a hat, receiving blanket, onesie, and sleeper. While these babies remain at Eden, the staff strives to make their environment (including their garments) as normal and comfortable as possible. Castro Valley UMC’s goal is to provide 15 Birth Center Bags to Eden Hospital each month.
Hygiene Kits are prepared for the Social Work Department. Each kit contains a hand towel, wash cloth, comb, nail file/clipper, bar of soap, toothbrush, and toothpaste. They provide these items to Eden Hospital for discharged patients that are homeless or otherwise in need. Castro Valley UMC has a goal of providing 15 Hygiene Kits to Eden each month.
We are also collecting new clothes for discharged patients that are in need. Socks, sweat pants, sweat shirts, underwear, flip flops, and umbrellas are requested.
The Birth Center Bags, Hygiene Kits, and clothing are collected the first Sunday in a marked receptacle in the Fellowship Hall. Due to space limitations, we can only accept items on the first Sunday. Everything is delivered to Eden Hospital on a monthly basis.
