Outreach to Eden Hospital and California State University East Bay H.O.P.E.
Caring Hands is an outreach ministry to Eden Hospital’s Labor and Delivery and California State University East Bay’s H.O.P.E (Help Our Students Excel) program.
Birth Center Bags are provided to Eden Hospital for babies that cannot be released from the hospital due to a variety of circumstances and for those mothers in need. The bags contain size newborn to 3 months onesie, size newborn to 3 months sleeper, and a receiving blanket. While these babies remain at Eden, the staff strives to make their environment (including their garments) as normal and comfortable as possible. Castro Valley UMC’s goal is to provide eight Birth Center Bags to Eden Hospital each month.
Hygiene items are provided to students in need or homeless who attend California State University East Bay. Items consist of a bar of soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, combs, deodorant, hand sanitizer, nail file/clipper, and female hygiene products. Trial size items are accepted. Many of these students also have food insecurities so items such as granola bars and snacks that do not requires cooking or refrigeration are needed. Our goal is to provide about 15 of each item each month.
Monetary donations are also appreciated either by cash or a check made out to the Castro Valley United Methodist Church and designated to the Caring Hands Ministries.
