Featured Quilter: Sandi Fisher
Sandy was raised in South Bend, Indiana, and moved to California over 40 years ago. She started sewing doll clothes on her gra ndmother’s lap using her treadle machine at age 5. By the time she was 11, she was making her own clothes. She switched from clothes to ‘sane’ quilting with the birth of her first daughter some 24 years ago.
Ten years ago, she discovered an on-line group of quilters making ‘crazy’ quilts and was hooked. All that freedom!! All those threads and all the embroidery. She found that she could now find a use for all the little ‘doodads’ and beads that she had been collecting for years and years just waiting for a reason to use them. And the fabrics were sensational…all those silks, satins, velvets, and more! Best of all, with crazy quilting, it’s “No rules!”
Sandy shares her love of crazy quilting with her students and in no time they are hooked on it too.
We will be presenting a quilt of Valor from the Amador Valley Quilters Guild to a member of our church at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21 during the Quilt Show.
