Food2Go

The mission of Food2Go is to eliminate hunger one family at a time. Food2Go is currently providing a confidential, personal delivery service of canned food, baked goods, eggs, and fresh fruits and vegetables food to approximately 60 households. These include seniors and others who need food but are unable to pick it up from local pantries due to illness, disability, or lack of transportation.

With an all volunteer staff, Food2Go is funded by donations given by caring people like you. Because of generous donations through the Food Rescue Program, and the monetary donations from church and community members, we are able to provide this much needed ministry in Alameda County.

Food2Go is always seeking for volunteers to help with packing and delivery. If you are interested in being part of this vital ministry, please contact the church office.

FESCO

Castro Valley United Methodist Church is a supporter of the Family Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO). FESCO has made a difference every day since its start in 1986 when a group of local churches came together around the idea that they could do more about homelessness together than individually. FESCO is committed to keeping families together during their period of homelessness and for over 30 years, has kept that commitment. In addition to serving single mothers with children, FESCO is one of the only shelters in central Alameda County that welcomes single fathers, two-parent families with children, and teenage males as part of a family group. As a member of the Friends of FESCO, CVUMC shares in the mission to support homeless families as they move from crisis to stability, end their homelessness, and find a place called home.

Since 2018, FESCO has been part of the La Familia Network. As part of the Network, FESCO is able to use grant funds and community donations to directly impact the lives of homeless families. FESCO and La Familia share a set of core values: Belonging, Partnership, Self-Determination, Social Justice, and Integrity.

Caring Hands

Caring Hands is an outreach program that provides baby kits to the Labor and Delivery unit at Eden Hospital. The baby kits consist of a newborn to 3-month size pajama, newborn to 3-month size onesie, and a baby blanket. These kits are given to parents that are in need of these items for their newborn and to babies that have to stay in the hospital for a period of time.
